For Monterey Car Week we decided to do something special. Rather than clients and salespeople going their own ways and converging on the sleepy beach town individually, we decided to hit it all at once, and in impressive fashion. From there Sunset GT Rally was created, and it was one hell of a good time.
Starting at the same location the now Famous Sunset GT is held, the rally would take participants out of the city and into the back country. Starting with Breakfast at Obica, we made sure it wasn’t just the cars that were fueled up, and we hit the road. Using mostly two lane highways through places like Moorpark, Bardsdale, and Ojai the Sunset GT Rally would see all types of landscapes and terrain. These scenic twisty roads would take us to Becara Resort in beautiful Santa Barbara. The police escort was able to keep us in a group and mostly free from stop lights on our way to the first class resort. Once there we would have lunch oceanside, and enjoy the break from the long journey.
The second leg would be up Hwy 101 to Niner Winery in Pasa Robles. The private label facility gave us a place to stretch our legs and have a little charcuterie before making the last of the trip into Monterey.
After relaxing on the beautiful grounds of Niner, it was time for the home stretch up the 101, and into Monterey for the start of Car Week. While not everyone stayed at the same hotel, or even for the same amount of time, we were able to share the experience of getting there, and doing it in style.
