Week 3 is in the books for F1 with the completion of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Starting from pole, Hamilton quickly gave himself a comfortable lead in the early laps, and never wavered securing his second win of the season, 8th all time at the Hungaroring.
Verstappen overcame a poor qualifying that saw him start P7, and then an embarrassing crash into the Turn 12 wall on his lap to the grid that required some urgent repairs. For Max to claim P2 in the Aston Martin Redbull car, the Dutchman was incredibly excited about his finish.
Lance Stroll couldn’t convert his P3 grid position into Race Points first podium of the year, as he came in fourth behind Valtteri Bottas. A late pass from Red Bull’s Alex Albon on the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel gave Albon P5, which is impressive considering his start at 13th.
Vettel held off the second Racing Point of Sergio Perez in the final laps of the race to take P6, while Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo made an incredible effort to take eighth.
Kevin Magnussen was able to give Haas racing the team’s first points of the year taking P9, and McLaren’s Carlos Sainz rounded out the top 10, thanks to a late-race pass on the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, who ended up 11th.
